Directs the activities of several Systems Analysis/Programming sections organized into project teams. Specifically responsible for all phases of the system development and implementation process including analysis, design, development, testing, and ongoing support for the client area's application systems in an environment of diverse development platforms, computing environments (e.g., host based, distributed systems, client server), software, hardware, technology, tools, etc. Consults with functional management in the analysis of short and long range business requirements and recommends innovations which anticipate the future impact of changing business requirements, hardware and software on the client area(s) applications and systems. Functions as a primary client contact responsible for fulfilling project requirements. Coordinates activities with other Data Processing unit heads (e.g., data base, operations, telecommunications, technical support, etc.). Responsible for project planning, scheduling, status reporting and project budgets. Establishes and analyzes staffing requirements within guidelines. Responsible for implementing projects consistent with long-range data processing plans and installation standards. Maintains relationships with vendors and professional organizations. Performs related duties as assigned or requested. This position is a direct report to the Vice President of Service Channel Technologies and is a potential successor. The individual filling this role will be responsible for leading three teams of highly motivated and skilled software professionals: Business/System Analysis, Solutions Engineering, and Quality Assurance. The positions requires a varied skill set in that personnel under management cover a broad spectrum of the SDLC, each with their own unique and critical skills - - from gathering and documenting requirements (Business/System Analysis) to designing system technically sound and scalable system (Solutions Engineering) to guaranteeing a quality product is being delivered to our customers (Quality Assurance). As a senior leader in the Service Channel Technology (SCT) organization, the Director of Analysis, QA, and Solutions Engineering is responsible to establish a clear vision and strategy for his/her three teams under management and this vision and strategy should be aligned to the organizational vision and strategy as put forth by the VP. SCT services multiple lines of business within the Prudential enterprise, each having unique and equally important system demands. It is therefore critical that the successful candidate be able to lead his/her managers and staff toward balancing shifting workloads and satisfying the needs of multiple customers. Responsibilities: o Attract, develop and retain top talent to continually raise the bar on the capabilities and deliverables of the organization. o Build a winning culture with a repeatable, process-based approach in which all members of the organization recognize the goals of SCT's customers and deliver business-differentiating software solutions. o Cultivate a strong team environment in which team members feel safe in challenging each other's ideas as they develop the best plan to meet business challenges and exceed SCT customer expectations. o Establish measures and metrics for all critical processes and manage the organization through use of these metrics, providing complete transparency and open communication to all interested customers and associates. o Leverages strategic vendor relationships for significant staffing scalability and flexibility, industry best practices and technical training, technology tools, and system capabilities. o Achieves results by ensuring competitive advantage and value-added work through delivery of business systems solutions and improvements in the Requirements Management, Quality Assurance, and Solutions Engineering functions. o Contributes to budget development and manages expenses for segment of the Requirements Management, Quality Assurance, and Solutions Engineering teams for the SCT initiative and Lights-On/Production Support budgets. o Approves functional procedures and delivery content for their area of responsibilities. Influences procedures and metrics for consistent requirements management, quality assurance, and solution engineering. o Conducts meetings and information sessions with key management and key customer/client representatives in the requirements management, quality assurance, and solutions engineering of strategic business initiatives. Bachelor degree in IT or business or equivalent experience. Higher level degree a plus. 10 years experience with business systems software 7 years experience with distributed systems, related technologies and frameworks. 5 years managing teams of software professionals Experience leading efforts to establish or operate within formalized SDLC models such as waterfall, iterative, and agile Past hands-on experience in either business system analysis or quality assurance Past hands-on experience in system development or design Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong interpersonal skills Solid demonstrated leadership abilities by instilling motivation, a sense of ownership and a high degree of pride in teams under management Industry recognized accreditations such as PMP, ITIL, etc a plus.
